Moggs strengthens its PR offer - 'Quality over quantity'
Derby based full service marketing communications agency, Moggs, has strengthened its' PR service to clients. Recognising the need for effective, strategically-driven PR, Moggs has refined the portfolio of PR services it provides to clients.
Moggs MD, Roger Moggs, believes it's time for an overhaul in the way clients' public relations are handled. He commented; "Just imagine what it's like to be an editor of any type of media, offline or online, on the recieving end of the mountain of press releases in his or her inbox every day! PR is one of the simplest and cost-effective ways of getting the message out but the system is in overload with PR agencies pushing out a daily plethora of average 'stuff' that no-one really gives a stuff about!"
So, the message has to be 'quality over quantity every time'. Most PR agencies will shudder at the thought of this as their revenue is often time based. The need to justify their x days per month fee retainer with x number of releases is paramount to the client staying a happy bunny. Of course, the justification of this activity is illustrated with the obligatory monthly press cuttings file. Here the demonstration of press coverage is depicted, together with a media value, readership coverage etc. What this typically doesn't show is the effectiveness of the said coverage. It doesn't show the competitive environment for example, where everyone is shouting their wares. And most importantly, it does not take into account the fact that most target audiences are now media-savvy...they know that PR is actually 'advertising' in a different form. It's not as effective as it used to be. The professionalism of the technique has been eroded.
Moggs continued; "There are some simple drivers for effective PR. Is the article or event news-worthy? Is it informative? Entertaining? Challenging? Creative? Opinionated? If it doesn't meet these critical criteria then there's no room for it. Quality over quantity every time".
